On Carrer Font,
peace and character in the heart of the village
This house breathes history and tradition. Les Ametlles, which means “the almonds” in Catalan, takes its name in honour of the origins of the house. The almond groves that our forebears cultivated were an essential part of this land. When harvest time came, the almonds were left to dry inside the house, filling its rooms with aromas and memories that linger to this day.
The very rooms that welcome you today were once part of that artisan process. We wanted to preserve the essence of those times, keeping the original stone and the authentic character of the house. Every corner tells a story, and we hope that during your stay you will feel the soul of this very special place.
Enjoy the nature, the tranquillity and the beauty of this setting!

The Albera begins
where the vineyards end
Masarac sits on the plain: step out of the door and you already have paths between vineyards and olive trees, without taking the car. A quarter of an hour away the Albera begins to rise, and with it the castles, the dolmens and the hidden valleys.
There is bicycle parking at the accommodation itself.

A loop through the villages
A morning
Masarac, Vilarnadal and Mollet de Peralada along village lanes and roads among the vineyards. No traffic and no need to take the car: it is the first-day outing, and the one you can do with children.
Extend it to Peralada and back for 23 km.
-
Capmany megalithic route
A morning
Waymarked route looping around the north of the municipality, with almost no climbing, visiting eight menhirs and dolmens. You can do it on foot or by bike: it is flat and entirely on tracks.
There is an 18 km version with more dolmens and menhirs.
-
Muga Natural Path
A full day
It follows the Muga from Castelló d’Empúries to Sant Llorenç de la Muga, passing through Peralada, Cabanes and Pont de Molins. Joining at Peralada, you have the sea on one side and the mountains on the other.
Downriver to the sea or upriver towards the reservoirs: ride the stretch you like.
-
Requesens Castle
Half a day
The whole climb is on tracks, inside the Albera massif, up to the castle. On some stretches you push the bike. You can also drive there, but the last stretch is still a forest track.
The long loop via Puig Neulós is around 40 km with 1,200 m of climbing: that one is for fit riders.
-
The Pirinexus
Several days
The great loop that stitches Girona’s greenways to the Vallespir, on the other side of the border. It passes right by here, and you don’t need to ride all of it to enjoy it.
The Alt Empordà section is about fifty km and flat: it can be done in a day.
On foot
-
Espolla dolmens
Half a day
The southern slope of the Albera holds one of the largest concentrations of megalithic monuments in the Mediterranean. The circuit starts from the cooperative’s car park and is done at a leisurely pace, with stops.
The Albera Natural Area has waymarked routes of various lengths.
-
Sant Quirze de Colera Monastery
One hour
A dirt track climbs the valley to the Benedictine monastery of the 10th–12th centuries, hemmed in by mountains. It is short and flat; you go for the silence as much as for the stones.
Times are for those who go without rushing; the kilometres are those of the whole route. Under each name you will see where it starts and how far that is from the house. The climbs of the Albera are on tracks: check the weather before setting out.

Unbeatable
It’s a magnificently renovated house: large, comfortable, quiet. Perfect for switching off and resting. It has everything, the owners’ attention is unbeatable, and it’s perfectly located for excursions of every kind: from the coast to the mountains and as far as Northern Catalonia.

What an amazing house! As soon as we walked in, our jaws dropped! Those exposed ceilings and the walls... it’s so cosy and homely... just wow... . Honestly, the little ones didn’t want to go back to our house after being here! We’ll have to come back and stay more days, what can we do!
I really liked the house: the dining room, the living room... and in general EVERYTHING!
